Need For Speed

The Need For Speed Franchise was originally released in August of 1994.  This is a racing video game franchise created by Electronic Arts and is developed by Ghost Games.  This series has been extremely well received, selling over 150 million copies world wide.  The concept of the game is based around street racing, completing tasks and evading law enforcement in police pursuits.  Franchise rights have also expanded into filming rights and even Hot Wheels Toys.  Over the years the developers of the franchise have managed to keep the game play, rules and mechanics virtually the same.  The end goal is to control a race car, in a variety of races and win the game.  There is a tournament, career, automatic, manual, multiplayer, split screen and Internet Lan modes available to the players.  Looking at all the various titles over the years it includes, NFS, NFS 2, NFS 3 Hot Pursuit, NFS High Stakes, NFS Porsche Unleashed, NFS Hot Pursuit 2, NFS Underground, NFS Underground 2, NFS Most Wanted, NFS Carbon, NFS Pro Street, NFS Undercover, NFS Shift, NFS Nitro, NFS World, NFS Shift 2 Unleashed, NFS The Run, NFS Most Wanted, NFS Rivals, NFS No Limits, NFS Payback and in development is NFS Edge.
