This is the eighth major installment of the Kart series. The game was announced at E3 2013 and released worldwide for the Wii U. Some of the new editions to the game are anit-gravity sections, allowing players to drive on walls and ceilings while being able to bump into one another for a short boost. This is a single player and multiplayer game, including the ability to play online via the Nintendo Network. This is the best selling Wii U game ever, with over 8 million copies sold worldwide. Nintendo continues to drop in new updates and downloadable content to the game. It continues the traditional game play of the Mario Kart series of the past, in which Mario Universe players race in karts against each other attempting to hinder their opponents using whatever means comes to them. Some of the new features and enhancements that have been added to the game via downloadable content include a set of Mercedes-Benz themed vehicles. Also, with the purchasing of DLC packs, each contain three characters, four vehicles and eight additional tracks. Some of these being based on other franchises that Nintendo owns, like the Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, F-Zero and Excitebike.
